Who We Are

The website was founded in 2017 by Barbara Lovenheim, who served as publisher and editor-in-chief, in collaboration with Susan Huyser, our ongoing art director. They created NYCitywoman especially for area women, keeping them informed about local opportunities and goings-on—many below the radar. Our contributors write the kind of long-form, in-the-know features that mature women—who spent decades consuming Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and other feature-rich magazines—appreciate and have a hard time finding elsewhere nowadays.

For the past several months, article vetting  and editing have been done by two of the site’s contributors: Suzanne Charlé has written for numerous publications, including The Nation, Harper’s Bazaar, House Beautiful, and The New York Times, where she was a freelance assigning editor for the magazine, and Linda Dyett, a current New York Times Styles, New York Magazine/The Strategist, and Vogue writer, who has also been published in Monocle and The Washington Post, and was an editor at Glamour, Self, and Lear’s.
